This year the Week of Vaccination in the Americas will take place from April 25 to May 2.
Their slogan is: Boost your power! GetVax!
The event sponsored by the World Health Organization since 2003 aims to strengthen national immunization programs across the region, aimed at reaching populations with little access to health services, such as those living in rural areas, urban neighborhoods and indigenous communities.
This initiative also reinforces the awareness of the importance of vaccination the fight against more than 20 types of diseases preventable, and keep the topic of vaccines on the political agenda.
The global network of development professionals Guardian (England) recognizes the week of vaccination in the Americas as one of five memorable movements in public health.
