The World Pharmacopoeia Genome Database Project aim to generate genomics data for herb species from Pharmacopoeias of China, USA, Europe, Japan, Korea, India, Iran, Egypt and Brazil. The goal of GPGD is to realize the open-access and sharing of herb genomics data, to promote the data utilization in decomposition of biosynthesis and regulation mechanisms of key secondary metabolites, and finally to accelerate breeding of superior cultivars. Based on the previous research results of the herbgenomics team, the data including genome, transcriptome, superbarcode and DNA barcode along with abundant newly generated data were arranged and combined to build the database. GPGD, aimed to collect genomic resources of medicinal species from major pharmacopoeias worldwide and other related species.
