68th World Health Assembly – 18 the 26th of May.

 

The Health Assembly is the supreme decision-making body of WHO. It is attended by delegations from all WHO Member States. It’s main functions are to determine the policies of the Organization, supervise financial policies, and review and approve the proposed programme budget. The Health Assembly is held annually in Geneva, Switzerland.

This year, after the Ebola outbreak and lessons learned with him, the health agenda will have as discuss the following points:

● Global health security

● Surveillance and response in order to prevent, detect and respond to outbreaks of disease and other emergencies effectively as a component of resilient health systems.

● Improving our contribution to reproductive, maternal, newborn, child and adolescent

● Speeding up progress towards malaria elimination; and expand our work in the prevention and control of noncommunicable diseases

● Addressing the threats and emerging priorities such as antimicrobial resistance, hepatitis, aging and dementia.

● Nnium development goals for maternal preventable end, and child deaths.

● Impulse stronger for malaria elimination;

● Focus on innovative mechanisms to develop vaccines and treatment at affordable prices, particularly against neglected tropical diseases.
