November 14: The World Diabetes Day

The World Diabetes Day, November 14, defined blue color to  dissemination and awareness the worldwide campaign on the subject, following the example of the campaign for the prevention of breast cancer, “Pink October”.

It was in 1991 that the International Diabetes Federation (IDF) and  World Health Organization (OMS) officiated the date. The campaign has the recognition and support of the United Nations (UN), which in December 2006 signed a resolution recognizing diabetes as a chronic and high-cost disease worldwide

For the years 2014-2016, “Diabetes and Healthy Life” was the theme chosen by the IDF.
